DESCRIPTION: Indigenous Peoples' Day Celebration Sun. Oct 11, 11am-9pm, 4808 Tillman St, Detroit On Sunday, October 11th the Thečhíȟila Collective invites everyone to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day from 11am to 9pm at 4808 Tillman St in Detroit. Come support local Indigenous artists, listen to traditional drumming and singing, watch a baaga’adowe tournament from 3-5pm (Native stick game, precursor to lacrosse), celebrate Indigenous cultures and connect with the community.       The Thečhíȟila Collective is a GDUUC social justice council partner and Jaike Spotted Wolf has come to speak at church several times. The Thečhíȟila Collective purchased the land (9 former housing plots) and invited our church collective to their land blessing last November.  They have worked really hard bringing the abandoned land back to life this past year. Several UUD and NWUU members (Pete S, Andrew E, John E, Irene B and Lorelei M) are on their land stewardship team.  Reach out to Lorelei Muniz (lorelei.muniz@sbcglobal.net) for questions.  She will go at 3pm to see the baaga'adowe tournament and stay.  Looking forward to seeing a lot of UU's there, just like at the land blessing a year ago.
